Christmas mini sessions during pandemic

It is that special time of the year- Christmas holiday season is on its way. This holiday season is a very different one due to Covid-19 pandemic. I know many of us would miss our families and friends, many of us would miss traveling. For small children, they may not be able to have their photos taken with Santa.

I sometimes wonder what if this is just the beginning? What if our lives will never go back to normal? What if our children will be growing in this pandemic and they will never see what freedom we had before all of this? This makes me feel our lives are so vulnerable, our time and memory with our family is so precious. I want this year's Christmas to be memorable.. Let's still celebrate this year by taking the Christmas photos.

For the Christmas photos, I decided to move the indoor sessions to outdoor to limit the health risk. My new home has a beautiful front entrance in a covered porch, it also helps if it rains.

Being outside means I will need artificial lighting to compensate the natural light as the weather can be unpredictable. As always, I use my off-camera flash with a super large 50' soft box to compensate for the day light.

I am again using my Canon 5D Mark IV and 24- 70mm USM II lens. This lens has been my workhorse lens since I got it. It also helps me to keep social distancing while shooting my clients.

The set up was great. For health and safety, I will wear mask and gloves for entire session and keep distance with my clients during the photo shoot. I also prepared hand sanitizer upon arrival. My fingers are crossed waiting for some good weather over the next few weekends.

Now that I have some beautiful pictures for this special occasion , it is important I send the holiday wishes and best regards to my family who are far away from us. I found these cheap holiday cards on Basicinvite. Their printed Christmas cards have lots of designs and to choose from and I can customize based on my preference of color and shape of the cards. They also have some simple and easy made dinner party invitation templates. Right now Basic Invite is offering 15% off with coupon code: 15FF51

Socialization is such an important part of our lives, pandemic does not have to stop it. Make sure you check in with your family and friends on regular basis via virtual meeting, it also keeps your mental health in check.

Last, I hope you will enjoy this holiday season with your loved ones. It has been a challenging year for all of us. I know science will give us some answers to all of us very soon. At the same time, we will try out best to stay home and keep distance from others to keep everyone around us safe and healthy.
